I am still using the Sony MDR-7506/v6 in the studio. How do your DJ headphones differ from your studio pair? I do miss the folding capability of the Sonys though. They actually used to be much more expensive in the states ($249), but the price has come down a lot ($150-ish), making them a much better buy for the money. I want them to be loud without distortion, with good bass response (but not overly emphasized), comfortable for long sessions, light, sturdy, and affordable. What particular requirements must they meet? And a weird plus - my head sweats less because I don’t have what amounts to a giant ‘muff’ over my ear. They are also incredibly light, very comfortable, and it’s easy to replace parts. It’s easier to just keep them half on my ear to hear the room but still hear in the headphones. I wasn’t used to on-ear cans, but I ended up liking them a lot. I tried them out because I played a B2B set with a friend and their HD25s had a bit more of a thump to the bass that really cut through and made it easier to hear. Sadly the vinyl on the earcups has gotten a bit wimpier over the years, but that’s replaceable.įor the last couple years I have been using Sennheiser HD25s.
